A major language change

I think US english is really dominant. I have decided to shift to using US english ... I still favor Australian English, but its not dominant enough to be featured. The main ones are English (UK) and English (US). That will have to do.

More coming up, posts from Seoul and San Francisco ... in my next blog entry over the next 2 days before All Saint's Day.

Numb by Linkin Park

Ok ... this shall be a post away from the travelogue.

Im sure many have heard about this song. This song talks about the singer's angst at being fitted into mould. Having to walk the line drawn for him. The question is should he toe the line, much to his own frustration? Has the other party seen the frustration faced by the line drawn?

In so many instances of human relationships, we tend to draw up our own expectaions, and try to impose it on the other party, without realising that the other party is frustrated over such an attempt. What justifies this is the satisfaction derived from having the other party toe the expected line.

As sung by Linkin Park, the frustration of the toe-ing party is belted out in this tune. Trying very hard to break out of the mould, he completely numbs his feelings towards the other party, so that he can breathe. Very touching piece indeed.

To København & Malmö

In this episode, we retrace the steps taken by our intrepid adventurer to the Scandinavian countries of Danish Sjælland and Swedish Skåne. They are in native languages. In English, they are the Danish island province of Zealand, where Copenhagen is located, and the Swedish province of Scania where Malmo is located.

I shall not say too much. except that you enjoy the photos that are posted here. Mind you, this time there are about 300 photos posted. Do take your time. If there are any queries, I will try as much to answer them as possible. Please also note that Yahoo! photos has unravelled my effort in posting the photos chronoligically. It is a pity that photos taken much later in the day has appeared in front.

I am appealing to anyone that has any idea where to upload photos that listens to me. You are welcomed to post your comments asap.

Anyway here are the pictures as promised.

The First London 03Oct ~ 07Oct 2006

Sorry about not updating so often. Been really busy going out that I cannot spare 15 min of my precious time updating this blog for the posterity of mankind ... nah ... full of s**t.. haha

Anyway, It was not that nice cos i lost my cargo bag on the first night, but then it came by the second day morning. Hehe. My mistake actually, cos i wrote the wrong flight number down, so it was delivered according to my written label.

I did not do the usual London sight-seeing tours, but decided, what better way to enjoy London by going for a musical in the West End. Further, it was not easy to find like-minded crew that will enjoy such performances.

So with that, we set off for lunch on the second day. After lunch, we split from the rest of the group to tube down to Piccadily Circus for our musical reservations. We booked the musical, Phantom of the Opera. We walked down to Oxford street for shopping in the afternoon. Went into Topshop and I bought a scarf, which will be featured in my next trip. Hehe. Wanted to go into Muji, but was distracted by Marks & Spencers supermarket. Things are expensive there, multiplying everything by 3 makes things much simpler and costlier.

After carting through the supermarket, we went back to hotel for a rest before heading down to the Musical. It was an enjoyable night, seeing actors brnging the story to life with limited props and space. We took the Royal Circle seats, which are about the best seats in the house, costing £50 per seat. Anyway, after the musical, we headed down to MOS (Ministry of Sound) located at Gaunt St., near the tube station Elephant & Castle. We were disappointed as the club was closed, so we took a sad memorabilia of the front gate, showing that we were there. Will need to check more thoroughly before heading there next time.

Still have many more places to visit in London, waiting for my next trip there, meanwhile, i got many activites prepared for my next journey to Europe. That's to København, or Copenhagen. Printed out a stack of itineries, hope there is time to do all of it. Meanwhile I'll leave you all with the photos from London.

Beijing Beijing

Beijing is beautiful. Save for the hazey conditions due to sand, it is better than Dubai, and of course much better than the haze we witnessed here in sg over the past few days.

What is so attractive about Beijing? It is quite cosmopolitan, the buildings are modern, massive traffic jams, lots of people, and quite a number of helpful residents around. If not for the less than optimum conditions for a modern metropolis, some parts of Beijing can be mistaken for Tokyo. really.

In the photos below, there will be a place i visited, called 建外SOHO. It is a work and live place, with apartments and offices together with shops, spread over a large area.

I also met my batch girl in Beijing and we had lunch at the hotel. Quite nice service and spread, not so international, but eadible.

Met up with my friend in the evening at 建外SOHO, and he brought me to a massage place. Very Zen & Bali concept and the massage is good, at a price of course. Haha. After that we ate some supper at the road side stall next to a DVD shop we visited. Got a good price for the CDs I bought, can't wait to go back there again. Hehe.

Anyway, I'll leave you to enjoy the photos. Will update London tmr, quite tiring to do it today.
