Abu Dhabi & Christmas

Hi All,

I left for Abu Dhabi on Christmas Eve. The second time I'm spending Christmas overseas. Abu Dhabi is a really neat place. Liberal like Dubai, but i guess less intimidating. It does not have such a great reputation as Dubai, but it has all the amenities that Dubai has, and it is less crowded. A beautiful waterfront, with well manicured lawns & beautiful landscaping. I visited the local wholesale market to purchase dates, Two shopping malls: Marina Mall & Abu Dhabi Mall.

Besides that, we headed inland to Abu Dhabi's second city, Al Ain. It is an ancient city located at an oasis that is shared by Al Ain, U.A.E. & Al Buraymi, Oman. It is a pity I did not manage to cross the border to Oman as it is still quite a distance away from Al Ain. A visit to Al Ain will not be complete without ascending the highest peak of the U.A.E., Jebel Hafeet or Mount Hafeet. It is about 1300m and very windy at the top of the mountain. Pictures that I will post will tell the story.

Merry Christmas and some sharing

Sorry for posting this so late. First of all, Wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!

Next, I'm just here to share the Frankfurt & New York Photos. This time of the year, Western countries should be more decorated because of the christmas festivities, but not very true. Singapore is more decorated for Christmas. The decor in New York was disappointing. The only i noticed was how glum the weather was.

On the second day of my New York stay, the temperature dipped to less than zero degrees celsius. Very very cold.

Frankfurt was cold too. The winds that breathe through the streets were chilly, and there was some rain as well. But I had my share of food like the wonderful pizza and pasta in Frankfurt, and some Japanese food in New York.

Late update notice 001

Hi Everyone,

Just to make sure everyone notices that I am not dead, I apologise for the late or non posting for the past one month. Its been rather hectic after Malé. I will start to put up photos first before posting my posts, so if you'd like a preliminary of the postings, you may view the photos by tomorrow night.

I will have the posts up before Christmas, so that all can enjoy the Christmas postings coming up.

Bad News: My ipod died, think its the battery. Tomorrow will be her autopsy, let's see if the ipod technician can do a quick fix, so that I can enjoy my Christmas. :)

The unexpected trip to Malé

Why unexpected? Imagine that were planning to enjoy a beautiful afternoon by yourself in the room when your phone rang and there is a voice saying that you are called to take the flight to Malé. Of course it is unexpected, i won't say its good or bad. Haha.

To aid people in understanding where Malé is, it's not a part of France, that's for sure. Although the name sounds french, its actually the capital city of a nation called the Maldives. Sounds familiar?

Some history/bullshit: Its was a british protectorate, since it is near India. Hmm... also was a Sultanate but now a republic. Anyway, for more crap history on this nation, you can refer to wikipedia.

Now for the real shit: Its has beautiful islands, idyllic beaches, corals atolls and all. A sight to behold, and a pain for your wallet too as all prices quoted are in USD. Just for your relieve, the USD is dropping against the SGD, so grab ur lugguage and scram there now!!..

Some advertisements: Singapore Airlines flies there daily via SQ452. Noted that SQ452 boards at 2035hrs at Terminal 2, and arrives in Malé at 2200hrs. Malé is at GMT+5 & Singapore is GMT+8, so go figure the time difference. Boarding gate closes 10 min before boarding without announcement.
